The wonderful thing about Hip Hop is that it can reach people from all cultures, creeds and races.
The Hip-Hop Chronicle caught up with upcoming artist, VA’s Sir Aah aka The Real Punjabi MC’.
1) For those that dont know you, tell us about who you are and where you come from?
I’m an MC bringing culture to hip-hop, most people use hip-hop as their culture, but I feel like I’m giving it more flavor. I’m from the DMV (DC, Maryland, and VA) aka Washington DC area. 703 to be exact.

Sir Aah - Break Your Waistline
2) Where does the name Sir Aah come from?
The real name is Haaris Ahmad… so Haaris backwards is Sir Aah… when I get into my conscious, religious, and spiritual tracks.. I go by Sir Aahmad
3) How did you get involved in Hip-Hop?
A guy named Ice Cube put me on to it.
4) Tell us about your musical influences?
Ice Cube, Wu Tang, and Tribe Called Quest.
4) What are your top 5 music albums of all time and why?
I like this one….
1. Michael Jackson - Thriller… just because of how he dominated the game
2. Ice Cube - Death Certificate … I’ve never heard an MC scare/wake up so many people with one album
3. Wu Tang Clan - Wu-Tang Forever… for the all the Wu-Tang heads, we never came through as strong as we did on the release of this album… the Wu had a nation behind them when this joint dropped in 97
4. The Beatles - Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band… because when I’m sixty four I’ll get by with a little help from my friends
5. Peter Tosh - Legalize It… I really relate to No Sympathy… Burial is a dancehall classic… I just liked him more than any other artist… People get heated when I say he’s better the Mr. Bob Marley
I can’t stop….
6. Nas - Illmatic… never will an MC be in a zone like he was on this album
7. Bob Marley - Legend… One of the greatest of all-time.. I was born after he passed, so I missed out on seeing how people reacted to his actual albums
8. Tupac - Makavelli… When this album dropped, I finally realized what we lost.. Hard to imagine anyone rapping with as much passion as him
9. A Tribe Called Quest - Midnight Marauders… this album just makes you feel good, it sounds like they were really having fun putting this album together
10. Lauryn Hill - Miseducation of Lauryn Hill…. She’s always got a place in my heart with this joint

5) How much does your cultural background effect and influence your music?
I would say alot, my whole mindframe is unique. I have different cultural beliefs and roots, different traditions, so I tend to ignore the nonsense that goes against how my people should act. Being from the DC area, the hustle and business sense gives me a certain swagger when I’m doing my promotions.

6) What plans do you have for your label, ‘Tax Free’ and your group ‘Made Bond’?
I’m the only artist on my label Tax Free. The only thing I’m trying to do is promote “The Mr. Ahmad Album” when it drops this summer, the next video single will be this joint I did “What It Be Like?!”… Made Bond hasn’t put out a mixtape since 2005, but I still do tracks with R.E.U.B, Roe, Jon Bland, and Tone Twist. They’ll all be on my album this summer.
7) Tell us what we can expect from Sir Aah in the near future?
Hopefully everyone will be hearing Break Ya Waistline and then What It Be Like?! Keep it pimping, pimpin!
Look out for Sir Aah and be sure to check out Sir Aah’s myspace page
